The LTE micronet (uRLTE) consists of an LTE base radio station (eNodeB) and LTE network core (EPC) fully implemented in software embedded in a SDR hardware (“software defined radio”) and a micro-controller. uRLTE thus allows the creation of a local LTE cell. uRLTE is a system developed by Innovatech Telecom and Kasco.
uRLTE is a low-cost solution to provide LTE cellular coverage (voice + data) in shadow areas in urban and rural areas.
eNodeB connects to any EPC through standard S1-AP and S1-U interfaces. The EPC application runs as a single binary, but provides the main components of the EPC: “Home Subscriber Service” (HSS), “Mobility Management Entity” (MME), Service Gateway (S-GW), and Packet Data Network Gateway (P-GW).
